Healing Rooted in Culture…. Therapy that Sees You
Do you ever feel like you're drowning in everything—depression, anxiety, and family drama—while trying to keep your head above water?
When depression, anxiety, and family drama weigh on you, it can feel like you’re carrying it all by yourself. And as a person of color, there’s often this quiet pressure to stay strong and keep it together—even when it feels really hard.
But here’s the thing: you don’t have to do it alone. Therapy might seem like a big step, but it’s actually a really important one for your mental health.
You deserve someone who gets what you're going through, someone who understands your background and what you’ve been through. Your mental health matters—taking care of yourself is worth it!
Hi, I’m Jhoana, a First Generation Latina Therapist in Los Angeles.
As a Latina therapist, I’m passionate about helping people of color manage the weight of anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. I know firsthand how cultural pressures, societal expectations, and personal challenges can impact mental health.
I’m here to create a space where you can feel truly heard and supported—no judgment, just honesty and care. Together, we’ll uncover what’s getting in the way, build your strength, and work toward a life that feels more grounded, balanced, and peaceful.
Why Therapy??
Curious about trying therapy but were met with judgment from family or friends? You’ve probably heard things like “only crazy people go to therapy” or “what happens in this family stays in this family”. Hearing these things can push us further into a closed off box where we feel alone, misunderstood, and helpless.
Here are some common reasons to break mental health stigmas and seek help:
Balancing Between Two or More Cultures
Feeling Down, Depressed, or Sad
Facing Pressure to Assimilate
Struggling with Family Expectations and/or Cultural Norms
Feeling Anxious, Nervous, or Having Panic Attacks
Intergenerational Trauma
Feeling Like You Don’t Belong (“Ni de Aquí, Ni de Allá”)
Stress of Navigating “Code Switching”
The Desire to Break Cycles of Toxicity in Family or Community
In many communities of color, therapy hasn’t always been encouraged—in fact, it’s often been stigmatized. But that’s starting to change. More and more of us are reclaiming mental health as part of our healing and growth. Let’s keep breaking the stigma—your healing matters!
