Why Online Therapy??

Have you ever wanted to try therapy but were met with judgment from family or friends? You’ve probably heard things like “only crazy people go to therapy” or “what happens in this family stays in this family”. Hearing these things can push us further into a closed off box where we feel alone, misunderstood, and helpless- allowing our depression and anxiety to grow. Here are some common reasons to break mental health stigmas and seek help:

  • Balancing Between Two or More Cultures

  • Facing Pressure to Assimilate

  • Struggling with Family expectations and Cultural norms

  • Intergenerational Trauma

  • Feeling Like You Don’t Belong (“Ni de Aquí, Ni de Allá”)

  • Stress of Navigating “Code Switching”

  • The Desire to Break Cycles of Toxicity in Family or Community

Going to therapy as a person of color or a person from the LGBTQ+ community can look very different from the normative culture. That’s why it’s important to seek help from someone that sees you.
